A produção de etanol do Brasil na safra 2018/19, encerrada em março, totalizou um recorde de 33,58 bilhões de litros, expressiva alta de 23,3% ante o ciclo anterior, informou nesta terça-feira (23) a Companhia Nacional de Abastecimento (Conab).
Em seu último levantamento sobre a temporada, a Conab disse ainda que a fabricação de açúcar no país, o maior exportador global do adoçante, recuou 17,2%, a 31,35 milhões de toneladas.
De acordo com o superintendente de Informações do Agronegócio da Conab, Cleverton Santana, o aumento na produção de etanol na safra deveu-se, principalmente, à queda de preços do açúcar no mercado internacional e a um cenário mais favorável para o etanol no mercado interno, frente à alta do dólar e do petróleo .
“Esses fatores fizeram com que as unidades de produção aumentassem a destinação de cana-de-açúcar para a produção de etanol nesta safra”, resumiu ele no relatório.
Em contrapartida, houve queda na produção de açúcar do Brasil, ao menor nível em ao menos 10 anos, para 31,35 milhões de toneladas, sendo 28,66 milhões no centro-sul. Em 2017/18, o país, maior exportador global do adoçante, havia fabricado quase 38 milhões de toneladas.
As produções de açúcar e etanol levam em conta uma safra de cana de 625,16 milhões de toneladas, 1,3% menos na comparação anual e terceiro recuo consecutivo. No centro-sul, a moagem ficou em 575,15 milhões de toneladas, 2,3% inferior a 2017/18.
Segundo a Conab, a colheita se deu em aproximadamente 8,6 milhões de hectares, representando redução de 1,6% ante o ciclo anterior e segunda queda seguida.
“A menor área colhida derivou, principalmente, da devolução de áreas arrendadas e de fornecedores, que preferiram substituir o plantio de cana-de-açúcar por outras culturas”, disse a Conab no levantamento. “A finalização de contratos de arrendamento tem sido habitual, principalmente nas áreas impróprias à colheita mecanizada, pois faz parte da estratégia das unidades de produção para se tornarem mais eficientes”, acrescentou.
A companhia afirmou que divulgará seu primeiro levantamento para a nova temporada, a 2019/20, iniciada neste mês, em 7 de maio.
