Filtro de barro – A invenção brasileira é um dos melhores do mundo

“Pesquisadores americanos concluíram que o filtro feito de barro é o melhor quando o assunto é retenção de cloro, pesticidas, ferro, alumínio e também de chumbo.

Muitos nem sabiam que tudo isso poderia ser encontrado na água, pois bem, vai ai mais uma surpresa: a água pode conter Criptosporidiose, um parasita que causa alguns incômodos como diarreia e gastrenterites. O filtro de barro é capaz de eliminar 99% desses parasitas.

 

Mãos que dão forma ao barro, com técnica e delicadeza. E nasce mais uma criação genuinamente brasileira: o filtro de barro. A invenção do filtro mudou completamente nossa maneira de beber água.

No país, a água nem sempre era de boa qualidade. Vinha de poços, rios ou era canalizada de maneira rudimentar até chegar a fontes e chafarizes construídos pelos governos.

Com a criação do filtro, a água chegou enfim dentro das casas. Agora limpa e sem contaminação. Um dos primeiros produtos criados pela indústria nacional, o filtro de barro vem sendo estudado há tempos pelo professor Júlio César Bellingieri. A questão da água era uma questão de saúde pública.

“Nós tínhamos na virada do século 19 para o século 20 muitas epidemias. As cidades crescendo, mis população. E os serviços de água encanada das cidades eram muito insuficientes. Então, não havia no Brasil um equipamento que pudesse filtrar água de modo eficiente. E as pessoas morriam em epidemias, tomavam água suja”, explica.

A primeira grande mudança acontece com a chegada dos imigrantes italianos e portugueses no começo do século passado. Eles traziam na bagagem as velas para filtrar água que já existiam na Europa. Eram peças rudimentares, feitas de pedras porosas. Já os filtros eram de metal ou de pedra.

Entre os imigrantes que viviam e trabalhavam em São Paulo, um dia alguém percebeu que as jazidas de argila do interior do estado podiam fornecer material para fazer bons potes de cerâmica. E se podiam fazer bons potes, podiam fazer filtros. Deu certo e foi sucesso imediato. Era água pura, fresquinha e gostosa.

Com o passar do tempo, o filtro foi sendo aperfeiçoado. No início, a vela era um disco de cerâmica porosa, colado com breu e cera. Passaram-se décadas até que chegasse ao que é hoje: por fora, uma camada de cerâmica porosa. Por dentro, uma porção de carvão na parte interna e uma camada de prata coloidal, um produto bactericida usado para purificar ainda mais a água. E o carvão ativado, que tirar o cloro.

Mas, afinal, quem teria criado o primeiro filtro? Este nome, a história não guardou.

Como é o seu funcionamento?

Ele tem um sistema lento de filtragem, gota a gota, a água passa de um recipiente para outro. De acordo com a pesquisa isso é um ponto muito positivo, já que os sistemas mais eficientes são os baseados em filtragens por gravidade. Dessa forma, micro-organismos são literalmente sufocados pela pressão e não alcançam a água a ser tomada.
