Produtores citam prejuízos com destruição de lavouras por javalis e criticam proibição de caça em SP

Agricultores afirmam que espécie transmite raiva e febre aftosa, e que Estado não tem estrutura para fazer controle populacional. Justiça concede liminar a ‘controladores’ autorizados pelo Ibama.

 

A lei que proíbe a caça de qualquer animal em São Paulo é criticada por produtores rurais do interior do estado, que dizem ter as lavouras dizimadas por javalis, espécie não nativa e que é considerada invasora pelo Instituto Brasileiro do Meio Ambiente e dos Recursos Naturais Renováveis (Ibama).

Resultado de imagem para JAvaporcoO próprio Ibama, inclusive, havia regulamentado a caça desse bichos há cinco anos, como medida de controle populacional. Isso porque, a população de onças, único predador natural dessa espécie no país, está cada vez menor.

Agressivo e de fácil adaptação, o javali entrou no Brasil pelo Uruguai na década de 1980 e, como se reproduz rapidamente, em pouco tempo se tornou uma praga. Um exemplar adulto chega a 1,30 metro de comprimento e pode pesar até 100 quilos.

“Ele é um animal onívoro, consome animais e plantas nativas. Também produz grande risco à saúde humana e à sanidade animal, porque transmite a raiva e a febre maculosa”, explica Cyro Pena Júnior, presidente do Sindicato Rural do Vale do Rio Grande, que reúne produtores de Barretos (SP), Colômbia (SP), Colina (SP) e Jaborandi (SP).

Em nota, o Ibama explica que a caça é proibida no país, mas o “manejo de controle do javali” é permitido. Nesse sentido, o órgão entende que a lei estadual não se contrapõe à determinação federal, apenas estabelece que caberá ao Estado de São Paulo realizar o manejo.

Cyro estima que a população de javalis e javaporcos – o cruzamento da espécie com porcos domésticos – chegue a 1 milhão em todo o Brasil, e diz temer que esses animais comecem a invadir os municípios, caso o controle populacional não seja realizado.

“Esses dias nós observamos um surto de febre maculosa na região de Marilia. No ano passado, na região de Barretos, nós tivemos um surto de raiva em bovinos, coisa que não acontecia há 20, 30 anos. Ele é também um grande vetor da febre aftosa”, afirma.

Há três anos, a destruição causada por javalis em uma plantação de amendoim em Monte Azul Paulista (SP). Na época, o proprietário abandonou o cultivo por causa dos prejuízos.

Dever do Estado

Sancionada há quase um mês pelo governador Márcio França (PSB), a lei estadual 16.784/2018 proíbe a caça de animais domésticos, domesticados, silvestres, nativos ou exóticos, “sob qualquer pretexto, forma e para qualquer finalidade”.

A lei determina ainda que o controle populacional de espécie declarada nociva ou invasora, como os javalis, não pode ser realizado por pessoas físicas ou jurídicas não governamentais. Isso significa que caberá ao Estado fazer esse trabalho.
