Um dos riscos do consumo exagerado de refrigerante é a obesidade, que está relacionada com problemas graves de saúde, tais como câncer e diabetes.
O refrigerante é uma bebida muito popular e apesar de parecer inofensivo, o refrigerante, quando consumido em excesso, pode causar danos à saúde. Portanto, é fundamental não fazer uso exagerado desse produto.
De acordo com a Associação Brasileira das Indústrias de Refrigerantes e de Bebidas Não Alcoólicas (ABIR), o refrigerante pode ser definido como uma bebida gaseificada, obtida pela dissolução, em água, de suco ou extrato natural, adicionada de açúcar ou edulcorantes (adoçantes). Ainda segundo a ABIR, o refrigerante deve ter, obrigatoriamente, água, suco ou extrato vegetal, açúcar ou edulcorantes e gás carbônico.
Como sabemos, o refrigerante é rico em açúcares, portanto apresenta um alto valor calórico. Além disso, ele apresenta acidulantes, conservantes e corantes artificiais. Em virtude dessas características, os refrigerantes estão associados a uma série de problemas de saúde.
Em decorrência da grande quantidade de açúcares, os refrigerantes estão relacionados com o aumento de peso e com a obesidade. A obesidade, por sua vez, está relacionada com problemas graves de saúde, tais como diabetes, câncer e doenças cardiovasculares. Além disso, estudos demonstram a relação entre consumo excessivo de refrigerante e elevação da pressão arterial, que é um fator de risco para doenças cardiovasculares e para acidente vascular encefálico, também chamado de derrame.
