Fundado em 2014, projeto já promoveu mais de 500 plantios em São Joaquim da Barra.
Nos últimos cinco anos, a cidade de São Joaquim da Barra (SP) tem ganhado tons de verde. Resultado do trabalho desenvolvido por voluntários do projeto “Vamos Arborizar São Joaquim”. O aumento do número de árvores na região é mais um passo para o principal objetivo da iniciativa.
“Queremos zerar o déficit de árvores na cidade que, em 2016, tinha apenas 12 mil espécimes. O segundo grande objetivo é transformar São Joaquim no município mais arborizado do Brasil”, conta Márcio Egídio, fundador do projeto.
Cerca de 500 mudas já foram plantadas na área urbana
Na agenda do professor de matemática não faltam datas para plantios. “Se fico um final de semana sem plantar pelo menos uma árvore sinto que algo está faltando, por isso, tento fazer dos plantios semanais uma rotina”, diz.
O caminho para transformar a cidade natal na mais arborizada do País, título atualmente dado à Goiânia, é longo. Por isso, Márcio conta com a ajuda da comunidade. “O grupo é formado exclusivamente por voluntários, representantes dos mais diversos setores da sociedade. Estudantes, professores, biólogos, donas de casa e até crianças participam das atividades”, conta o idealizador, que se orgulha dos passos que já foram dados.

“Já plantamos cerca de 500 mudas na área urbana. Além disso, temos um projeto chamado Praças Temáticas, onde cada praça recebe mudas de uma única espécie nativa. Com ajuda da prefeitura e de empresas privadas para adquirir as mudas, a cidade passou a ser casa para espécies nativas, como ipês e quaresmeiras, e árvores exóticas, como oitis e acácias. “Sempre que inaugura uma praça, avenida ou escola nós já sondamos o local. Os membros do grupo também detectam áreas descampadas para futuros plantios”, explica o professor.
Os voluntários se reúnem mensalmente para promover a arborização da cidade, prática permitida previamente pelo setor público do Meio Ambiente. “Quando bem arborizadas, as cidades se transformam em ambientes agradáveis para as pessoas e servem como extensões de matas, onde os animais e as plantas podem conviver em harmonia”, completa.
